Consumerism
We live in a capitalist society. Most of us don't grow our own food, make our own clothes, or create many of the products we use every day. Instead, we rely on a system of exchanging money for goods and services to get what we want and need.
What's wrong with that arrangement? Maybe nothing. For many of us, however, we are so utterly used to living this way that we don't question the effects of our consumer culture on our lives, the rest of the world, or the planet. In this unit of study I will be asking you to to face some of those questions.
In the end, you will decide how much you will participate in the consumer culture. If you take this study seriously, you will have the opportunity to make an informed decision to live according to your own deeply held convictions.
